Can plaquenil be used with humira

Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia.

As I thought my clinic would have prescribed humira or IVIG, but I have been told it can help and they want me to try this first. If you did take it Did it work or did you have to use humira or IVIG in the end. Any advice would be great - Blood changes Humira can cause easy bleeding, bruising, or a pale complexion. Immune system changes Sometimes, a person can experience a lupus-like reaction to taking Humira. Humira is used to treat many auto immune diseases, I was given the option to take that one too. One of the most popular drugs to treat lupus is Plaquenil, unfortunately it can make psoriasis worse if you already have it so I'm sure this is one reason why your doctor wants you to start Humira.

Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

  4. By late April 2011 it appeared that the combination of steroids & Imuran were not adequately contolling my arthritis pain & stiffness. Hence, with persistent arthralgias, in late April 2011, my Rheumatologist decided to put me on Humira, which is a bit controversial for use in SLE patients, per my rheumatologist and my research.

Long-Term Side Effects of Plaquenil for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The New Zealand Dermatological Society recommends that to decrease the risk of retina damage, no more than 200mg of Plaquenil should be taken a day, and a dose of 400mg per day should be taken no longer than a few weeks. According to the Mayo Clinic, the daily dose for RA is based on body weight; the dose is 2.9mg per pound 1. This means many people taking Plaquenil for RA are taking a dose of 400mg a day or higher.
