Common side effects include muscle problems, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and skin rash. Jul 30, 2019 Before the administration of chloroquine, the patient had only a mild skin erythema in the irradiated area, which was consistent with the radiotherapy dose she had received. On day 3 of chloroquine therapy, she developed localized brisk bullous eruptions in the irradiated area, which developed into a patch of fulminant moist desquamation.

Plaquenil and Sulfa Allergies" Lupus Community - Support Group I was dx in August with Lupus and my Rheumy said she was afraid to start me on Plaquenil since I had a bad reaction to a Sulfa antibiotic I took and the same reaction when a Dr gave me Lasix. I read that the sulfa in Plaquenil is different from those in antibiotics and most people with Lupus have an allergy to Sulfa but can take Plaquenil.
